Tough operations at the Hüttenhafen site in Bremen
Now that the gantry slewing crane, which had been operating for decades, has been dismantled, Weserport has been using a Konescranes series 6 mobile harbour crane at its terminal 1 since June. The crane’s ability to cope with loads weighing up to 125 tonnes makes it easy to even handle project loads with very heavy individual items. The company’s experience with the crane and with clear controls has been thoroughly positive.
Time for the wheels to revolve
Rhenus Midgard in Nordenham is delighted by its LHM 600 Liebherr crane. The key feature is that the mobile harbour crane moves on 88 wheels, in contrast to the previous gantry crane that was tied to rails. Together with its jib, the crane reaches a height of almost 80 metres and its grab can hold 30 cubic metres of bulk materials. The load capacity of up to 140 tonnes not only moves coal and building materials, but also heavy goods like offshore maritime cables.
